Big11Ten Network and Comcast negotiating

DAVID JONESWill network sack PSU fans?Patriot-News
Jones breaks down the situation involving the launch of the Big11Ten network.

The Big Ten has ruffled feathers at Comcast and other suppliers by demanding a steep $1.14 per household. That would be the third-highest rate among all cable channels, behind only ESPN ($3) and TNT ($1.26) and ahead of the NFL Network (75 cents).

Oh boy, hardball over TV rights, what fun. Washingtonians (MASN) and New Yorkers (YES) know firsthand that these sports networks often don’t get picked up for a while and the fans lose.

I am also concerned that markets on the Northeast Corridor won’t get it because they are not Big11Ten country, even though there are thousands of alums here cable companies may not see it as a big deal. The Big11Ten has nearly the leverage it thinks it does.

I see more visits to viewing sites for Penn State games in my future.
