Miguel Cabrera hit 2 solo homers yesterday and that was the differnce in the ball game. On the weekend, the Marlins outhomered the Nationals 9-0. Jason Simontacchi took the loss. He also denied throwing at Mike Jacobs (The Post) following a Cabrera homer.

Shawn Hill threw off the mound yesterday (The Post) and reported himself to be pain free (The Wash. Times). We’ll see how he feels today.

Thom Loverro notes that the buzz for the Nats is gone amongst U.S. sportswriters (The Wash. Times). This will improve next year with the new ballpark, but with the playoffs and an All-Star Game several (if not ten) years away, D.C. baseball probably won’t get a national showcase for sometime.
