2007 WWN PENN STATE PREGAME #1

VS.

#17/18 Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Florida International Golden Panthers

LAST WEEK

They practiced. Last game: victory over Tenneessee, 20-10, in the Outback Bowl. Northern toughness defeats southern speed.

THIS WEEK’S OPPONENT: FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL GOLDEN PATHERS

The wear blue and gold and are called the Panthers. Pretend its Pitt if you want.

Like everyone else, I don’t know much about FIU and I care to learn about them even less. They aren’t an airport, despite the name and have an enrollment over 35,000. They are from University Park, Fla. too so we could call it the U-Park Bowl or something. Other things I know:

  • They are thugs not good enough for the Miami Hurricanes, as evidenced by a fight between the two teams last year.

    Warning, song may be offensive

  • They used to be coached by Don Strock, one of the three greatest NFL backup quarterbacks of all time.
  • They haven’t won since 2005.
  • Is that enough for you?

    RANKING

#17 in AP, #18 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. That is about right.

    PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT

Here is the official Intercollegiate Athletics transcript of Tuesday’s press conference.

    BEANO WATCH…

…gets its own entry from now on. Be careful though, it is not for the feint of heart.

    TELEVISION

This is Penn State’s first game on Big11Ten Network which you don’t get unless you have DirecTV.

    PREDICTIONS

41-16 The defensive line gets tired and allows one long drive for a TD late. Everybody does well on offense and we learn very little about the punting situation.

    TAILGATE

Lot 12 or 13, you know what to look for.

    GO STATE, BEAT PANTHERS!
