DVD helps you brainwash your kid as a Penn State fan and other headlines

Yesterday was Joe Paterno’s first regular season press conference of the season. Judging by the transcript, he was pretty upbeat for a change. That should last about a week.

Are you a parent who wants their kids to be Penn State fans, but like using the electronic babysitter too? Good news for you, the Post-Gazette reports that there is now a DVD that will do just that:

The Penn State “Raising Tomorrow’s Penn State Fan Today” features famed NCAA football analyst Lee Corso as narrator. The 30-minute DVD introduces babies and toddlers to numbers on players’ jerseys, team colors, letters, mascots, traditions, fight songs, campus attractions and other concepts.

Corso narrating a children’s DVD?! That could scare them away from Penn State, college football, higher education and football in general, no? I mean, I’m kind of scared of Corso, imagine how the poor toddlers must feel.

I hope to have kids some day and share with them the Penn State experience. I’m not going to program them to love Penn State (or any other team) though.

Also, an alumnus wants us to cheer FOR Penn State, not AGAINST Notre Dame (Collegian letter to the editor).
