"We’ve officially reached mediocrity"

Another win for the Capitals on Saturday night moved them up .500 (The Post) for the first time since October. Coach Bruce Boudreau took it in stride as the quote above attests. They got eight out of ten points on the just-concluded homestand, naturally losing only the game I was at — January 13 vs. Philly. It has been fun watching them. Alex Ovechkin scored a bunch of goals (36 on the season) and so has Alexander Semin. Mike Green continues to impress as he is near the top of goals scored by defensenmen.

Tonight, they head to the biggest dump in the NHL, Pittsburgh’s Melon Arena. They’ll be playing the hated Pengyunz. The broadcast will be on Vs. so it will undoubtedly be nothing but a Sidney Crosby love-fest instead focusing on the men actually on the ice. Crosby tried to do a Pat Peake impression the other day, so he’s out for a while. I guess he’ll spend his downtime designing more women’s clothes!

Of course, the Pengyunz will probably pull it out just to spite me. A word of advice to the Caps — pretend you are playing Ottawa.
