The freefall that began in the fifth inning of Jason Bergmann‘s start against Philadelphia last week continued last night. For the second consecutive start, Bergmann couldn’t get anybody out in the fifth and started giving up runs uncontrollably. Ten Marlins batted and seven of them crossed the plate. A 1-0 lead was lost and the Marlins went on to win 10-4. Reliever Joel Hanrahan gave up three runs as well. The Nats only had four hits.

Manny Acta wants RHP Shawn Hill to get at least one more start in the minors. Acta feels Hill needs to face better competition than single-A players, so Hill will pitch for Columbus this weekend.

It is becoming increasingly unlikely that Austin Kearns will be the 40 homer 100 RBI player that some expected him to become. RFK Stadium was often sighted as a reason for his mediocre numbers, but the Nats don’t play there anymore.

Aren’t you glad that Peter Angelo$ wants the Nats to succeed? It really means a lot to hear this big coward, who tried to kill or at least maim the Nats because he doesn’t believe in Baltimore, wish us well.
