Whoo! Lots of scoring by offense. This team is going to score a lot of points and I think it will need all that they can get in the Big11Ten season. Get ready for some shootouts!
This year’s Penn State team has at least two and possibly three quarterbacks better than last year’s starter. Daryll Clark and Pat Devlin both looked good, against a team playing out of its league. Interestingly, two former Big11Ten coaches had differing opinions on who is better — Glen Mason gives the nod to Devlin while Gerry DiNardo goes with Clark. Tie goes to the older guy, in Joe Paterno’s thinking.
Based sorely on the size of the veins on his forearms, Chris Colasanti will be the next great Penn State linebacker and probably needs to be starting over MLB Josh Hull by the Temple game if not sooner. It looks like he has bridge cables under his skin.
The running backs looked good and so did the offensive line.
Big Ten Network coverage was solid, though they really need to sell more of their ad inventory, I got tired of seeing the same commercials over and over.
I really hope my Football Annual is in my mailbox today.
It looks like Saturday’s game against Oregon State will be played in a tropical storm. Playing a team from the Pacific Northwest in these conditions may not be optimal, but let’s not get worried about that yet. The game is on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2, depending on where you live.
