RF Austin Kearns has not lived up to the expectations departed GM Jim Bowden placed on him. Whether he can or not, the $8 million a year means he is probably sticking around one way or another. At least he hit a home run yesterday.

While Kearns is expensive and not a big producer, newly acquired OF Josh Willingham is a bargain who can hit 20+ homers a year. Where he fits in the Nationals plans is unknown, but his $2.95 million contract makes him a candidate to be traded before ever appearing in a regular season Nationals game.
