Capitals open playoffs vs. NY Rangers

At long last, the NHL playoffs are beginning. Our nation’s Capitals have the #2 seed, giving them home ice advantage in any playoff series they are in other than on against the #1 Boston Bruins. For the first round, they’ve drawn the #7 New York Rangers. The puck drops tonight on Comcast SportsNet at 7:06 p.m.

Coverage this time around is pretty intense. The Post has a bunch of stories and columns in the Capitals section and this video with beat writer Tarik El-Bashir:

El-Bashir is chatting at 2 p.m.

The Caps got 7 out of 8 possible points in their four games with the Rangers this year. Historically, they have tied four playoff series with the Rags with each team winning 11 games.

Other places to go for intense coverage: The Wash. Times, Japers Rink,
Dump and Chase, On Frozen Blog, A View from the Cheap Seats, Bleatings from a Caps Nut, The Peerless Prognosticator, Ted Leonsis, CAPITALS NEWS NETWORK

I don’t know how much I will be posting this time around, but my Recommended Reading (top right) will have lots of Caps headlines in it.

Of course, why we fight:

This would have gone up earlier, but a co-worker wanted to talk about the game.

PREDICTION: Capitals in six games
