Some much for that Nats personal rivalry homestand; Nats lose to Mets on road too

Remember at the beginning of the past homestand where I detailed that it was an important one for me with series against the Phillies, Pirates and Orioles? That really worked out for me, didn’t it? Philadelphia swept Washington in 4 games over 3 days, Pittsburgh picked up the first three of a four game series and the hated Orioles took the first two inside the Capital Beltway. Bang up job guys! I am now behind 7-2 in the Cheesesteak/Half-Smoke Challenge with Cliff/the Ombudsman/Matthew and down 3-1 to the Maryland Bureau Chief/Sam. I don’t have a wager with any Baltimore fans because I simply do not associate with that type. Actually, none of my friends are Orioles fans which must prove Peter Angelo$ was wrong about greater D.C. being “his territory.”

I did not make it out to any games either, but I filled the void with other fun things. The two games I had in mind were both wins, so maybe I just need to think about going to a game for the Nats to win. Along that line of thinking, I am considering checking out Ebbetts Citi Bailout Field over the next two nights.

So, back on the road, what do the Nats do? They in a Memorial Day night game (?) to the Mets in Flushing Meadows.

Gary Sheffield was credited with a 3-run homer that the Nationals thought was a 1-run double. They could not make up the difference either way and lost 5-2. They wore red Memorial Day hats with their road uniforms which may prove they should wear red hats all the time. I still like the blue though.

Thomas Boswell is not as depressed in his latest two columns:

Can the bullpen actually be getting better?

The Nats probably need to find a new spellchecker (DC Sports Bog), as the previous one has almost surely committed sepuku.

Also, I still don’t know what to make of a black and orange curly W cap. A Baltimorean who digs the Nats? A bad Washingtonian?
