Nationals Plummet Against the Rockies – The Post
A predictable path to loss for Detwiler – The Wash. Times
Is it just me or do series in Colorado usually involve one team sweeping the other? I think the Nats may have done it in 2006, but otherwise, I seem to think the Rockies dominate.
Seemingly everybody on the Nationals played poorly over the last two days. The first four paragraphs of The Post gamer are brutal, so much so that you’d think the author doesn’t like his job.
Ross Detwiler didn’t have it on the mound yesterday, giving up six runs over four innings. Nobody in the bullpen, save Tyler Clippard, emerged unscathed either. The Nats did not even score until the 7th inning after the were already losing 8-0. On the radio, even before the Nats were losing yesterday, Charlie Slowes and Dave Jageler were into filler, talking about ice cream trucks and that sort of thing. They could tell it was going to be a long day. It was much more entertaining than the game. Apparently, they even waited until the late innings to mention ice cream and pancakes. Those are some pros man.
On to Houston for the final series before the All-Star Break.
