Some post-game thoughts from today’s Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Syracuse Orange game.
- The offensive line is a real problem, they just can’t make holes for Evan Royster and Stephfon Green. This is a HUGE problem as the Big Ten season approaches. The pass protection had some trouble too, another troubling sign. Only one more “warm-up” game left.
- QB Daryll Clark seems as though he is pressing a little, but overall he is still playing pretty well.
- Great to see WR Graham Zug have a big day. I was disappointed his punt return was called back.
- Syracuse QB Greg Palus could be a pretty good college football player if he was doing it for more than six months. His uniform was cleaner than expected, but then again they kept switching him with another QB.
- The offensive pass interference call on Penn State on the Syracuse interception was bogus. Not that it mattered, it was a great play by the Orange wideout.
- The Penn State fumble on fourth near the end zone was maddening.
- Another good day by the defense, especially Sean Lee. He was all over the place today. He may surpass Dan Connor in my eyes, though I don’t see him being better than Paul Posluszny.
- I like that the crowd goes “aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE” when Jeremy Boone punts.
- We order Big Ten Network from Comcast on the sport tier. That’s $5 well spent. $5 a month is better than $19.95 for ESPN GamePlan for a day.
- Big Ten Network’s coverage isn’t great though.
- Does every women on Big Ten Network have the same hair as Erin Andrews?
- I celebrated with Jim Beam Black.
- Penn State is 2-0 with Temple next week at noon on Big Ten Network.
