Another week, another un-impressive win for Penn State. Playing their in-state rival Temple at home, the Nittany Lions easily beat the Owls without looking very good.
- RB Evan Royster busted out and had a 100+ yards day running the ball
- OLB Sean Lee was all over the field yesterday, making several stops behind the line of scrimmage. The bad news is he left the game with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter.
- QB Daryll Clark faced his first significant pressure of the season and had trouble with it at times. Once they started rolling him out, he did a little better.
- The offensive line is still having trouble, particularly the guards. This does not bode well for the Iowa game at all.
- This was the best Temple team I think I have ever seen. They have some athletes now. If they could get over some mental errors like dropping the ball and those sort of things, they will be much more competitive. I’m not saying they’d win, but they have the ability to have scored maybe 20 points on the Nittany Lions.
- Temple has not scored a touchdown on Penn State in many games, how many I don’t know off the top of my head.
- WR Derek Moye was having a good game.
- WR Graham Zug may have gotten a concussion.
- Hopefully, Temple’s ability to move the ball a little bit will scare the defense enough to get them to focus heading into the Big Ten season.
- Speaking of the Big Ten, Northwestern lost to Syracuse, Indiana beat Akron, Michigan beat Eastern Michigan, Michigan State lost to Notre Dame, Wisconsin beat Wofford, Minnesota lost to Cal, Ohio State shut out Toledo, Purdue lost to Northern Illinois and Iowa beat Arizona.
- Big week ahead for the Nittany Lions, they have a primetime revenge game with Iowa next Saturday. They need to get better or they are going ot get beaten again.
