Mattingly won’t interview; Riggleman likely 2010 Nats manager

Riggleman could stay with NationalsThe Wash. Times
Don Mattingly, bench coach of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has removed himself from consideration as next Washington Nationals manager. Given that the Nats have recently supplied Riggleman with “new electronic equipment” it seems they have the intention of keeping him around. The knock on the Nats is they don’t want to spend a lot of money on a manager, eliminating Bobby Valentine and Buck Showalter as possibilities. Former Arizona manager Bob Melvin was thought to be in the mix, but it might be as a bench coach.

Singer had previously been a Special Assignment Scout and Coordinator/Pacific Rim Operations. Who knew the Nats were scouting the Pacific Rim?
