Joe Paterno, ex-players could testify in Austin Scott lawsuit – Partiot-News
Back in October 2009, I published the post Austin Scott suing Penn State, Centre County and now there is an update. Scott is suing the county because it brought a rape charge against him that was later dropped. Scott contends that his dismissal from the team based on that charge kept him from being a 3rd or 4th round draft pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He may ask former teammates Scott Paxson and Gerald Cadogan to testify. In addition to them, Joe Paterno might be asked to do the same and I have to think this is a strategy that is going to backfire. Paterno will either list the reasons Scott was in the doghouse (tardiness, work ethic, classroom issues etc.) or just ramble off onto some story about growing up in Brooklyn. I think Scott’s attorneys are not helping their client out here. He has a case against the county, but not the university. Going after Paterno could just lead to public humiliation.
