Stephen Strasburg profiled as spring training nears

Stephen Strasburg era begins for Washington NationalsThe Post
The story of the Washington Naitonals spring training is going to be Stephen Strasburg. The 2009 #1 pick is one of the best pitching prospects ever, but being a prospect is a lot different than being a major leaguer, much less an elite one. He seems to have it together in his head and heart, but it takes a lot more — health, coaching, luck, fortitude, etc.

Strasburg’s likely to start the 2010 season in A ball with the Potomac Nationals and then, if he is up to the task, move up the ladder to AA-Harrisburg, AAA Syracuse and hopefully Washington. Nats president Stan Kasten says Strasburg won’t be marketed either which makes sense.

If Strasburg is all that people say he is, the Nats could contend much sooner, if not, we’ll see.
