Here it is, the Sports Illustrated cover story of Stephen Strasburg. Two quibbles — Strasburg has fill one stadium so far (Nationals Park) and merely increased attendance for another (Progressive Field). Based on trying to buy tickets to Friday night’s game, he’ll come close again. Also, MASN is not Washington’s regional television network, its Peter Angelos‘.
Also, too many strikeouts (The Post)? Really Bos, that’s a problem. I get the pitch count thing, but if Alberto Gonzales is playing the hot corner instead of Ryan Zimmerman, as happened on Sunday, go for the Ks.
Oh and speaking of Strasburg, Vienna’s favorite food critic Tom Sietsema reviews two of the Strasburgers (DC Sports Bog, The Post). The video isn’t embeddable for some reason. Has anybody eaten all four Strasburgers?
Meanwhile, Jordan Zimmermann is very eager to come back from Tommy John surgery (ESPN), perhaps too eager.
I am growing concerned that John Lannan peaked the last two years and is losing his viability as a major league pitcher. He gave up all 7 runs in last night’s loss to the Detroit Tigers (Nats Insider).
Scott Olsen isn’t throwing. Too bad, he was solid when healthy.
