I kid of course. The video of the video above was shown at Stephen Strasburg’s first start last week. Washingtion Nationals mascot Screech went tandem skydiving recently. It is actually a pretty good video, because the beak/mouth opens pretty big during freefall, almost — lifelike.

Ever since he “grew up” from the baby chicken eaglet, Screech has been less annoying. Now, the costume is basically wing-hands and a bird head as opposed to the full body costume. The pelvic thrusts seem to have gone away too.

Of course, the people’s mascots are Teddy and the rest of the Racing Presidents. They had a fun series of races last night with the Pittsburgh Pierogies who joined the Pirates for the trip and the “un-Sausages.” Milwaukee’s Racing Sausages have never made the trip to D.C. as far as I know, so they events crew made some costumes out of boxes to resemble them.
