WASHINGTON, D.C. — Headed over to taxi stand near Nationals Park following yesterday’s 5-3 Washington Nationals victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, I was shocked to see a man wearing Raleigh McKenzie‘s #63 on a Russ Grimm jersey. I thought it was extremely odd because I remembered (from 1983 on) Grimm wearing #68 throughout his career. I wondered if he wore #63 during his rookie year but according to Pro Football Reference, Grimm wore #68 that year too.

Prior to doing the roster search I searched Google Images for russ grimm and was surprised to see several #63 Grimm jerseys available for sale. Just a mind-boggling blunder.

By the way, DC Sports Bog had some excellent coverage of Grimm’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and related festivities. The lead on this one was outstanding.
