Marion Barry was already out of prison when Bryce Harper was born

Bryce Harper honored by D.C. Council – DC Sports Bog, The Post
This morning, the D.C. City Council (why isn’t it called the District Council?) honored Washington nationals outfielder Bryce Harper with a resolution which was framed for him. Harper was seemingly honored for being 2012 National League Rookie of the Year. Davey Johnson was also honored apparently, probably for being N.L. Manager of the Year.

Oh, this just broke before I hit publish Five Awkward Things Said at the D.C. Council’s Ceremony Honoring Bryce Harper and Davey Johnson – DCist (Me, linking to DCist?)
They got Davey’s age wrong and Jack Evans (Ward-2) was a little over-excited. Love anyway ya Jack!

To put in perspective Harper’s youth, when he was born, Marion Barry had already been out of prison following his conviction for smoking crack.

Speaking of Marion Shepilov Barry Jr., where Mayor for Life (currently serving as Ward-8 councilmember) this morning? You’d think he’d be all over that photo op. I hope he’s feeling better after his recent health issues.

He needs to rest up so he can resume this exciting new feature:

DC MOFO OF THE MONTH! What great potential! I hope Mayor Barry makes it a regular thing, unless of course DC doesn’t have any worthy candidates for MOFO OF THE MONTH.

Back to baseball, a three game series with the Chicago White Sox begins tonight. Beautiful weather for it too, can’t get much better.
