Alexandria, Va. snowfall total at 9:00 a.m. – 3.25 inches

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — One of the snowiest winters of the 21st Century just keeps dumping on us. This is the fourth day that OPM has closed the Federal Government this season and the sixth snow day in Alexandria City Public Schools. Ooooff. Up until this current storm though, this is how I remember winters growing up in Vienna.

After a little bit of shoveling the patio, I went out and got the first measurement of the storm – 3¼ inches! of beautiful powder.

Just imagine if it had been below freezing when the rain started yesterday afternoon.

Oh and my brother notes that the Virginia Department of Transportation has a map that shows where their plows are working. Their plowing is limited in the incorporated cities (like Alexandria) and towns (like Vienna) and Arlington County that maintain their own road & street network. The Alexandria Snow Plow zones can be downloaded as a PDF.
