Alexandria snow fall total, January 30, 2017 – 1 1/4 inches

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — It’s the penultimate day of January and we now have the second measurable snow fall of this winter…barely.

I measured 1¼ inch of snow in the West End. It looked like more on top of my grill, so some probably melted on the warm ground. The total for the year so far — 2¼ inches. There may be on Super Bowl Sunday though.

It took my about 10 minutes to clean off my car.

Alexandria City Public Schools opened on time. I don’t know that there were any delays in Northern Virginia. Because we’re a region that can handle snow.

In Tysons there isn’t even that much, despite being the highest elevation in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
