According to Washington Business Journal (and tweeted out by city council member Justin Wilson), Alexandria’s only shopping mall, Landmark is closing at the end of this month:

Macy’s said it was going to close their store recently. Sears may stay open, but any expectation that it will be around by the time Landmark is the new open-air town center is not based in reality. Realty?
Of course, the anchor store for Landmark Mall was Chik-fil-A in recent times.
Nine years ago, I blogged “the only way to save Landmark Mall is to destroy it.” We’re going to find that out.
