ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The second snowstorm of the week increased this winter’s snowfall accumulation. Based on 2 inches already on the ground, another 3 inches fell today.
In total, that’s 6½ inches so far this season.
The ground has been white since Monday morning, an unusually long stretch for this region. A cold front through the early part of the week will likely keep the grass under snow.
Rain and early spring-like temperatures will wash it away though.

The measurement tool harkens back to the time I measured snowfall total at my Tysons office with a protractor.
