It All Swings Wrong Way For Nationals – The Post
I was up too late last night, but I went be knowing that the Nats had a chance, because they were locked in 1-1 pitchers duel in extra innings. I am glad I went to bed then and not when they went up 4-1, because waking up this morning (after oversleeping) is hard enough without knowing they blew a three-run lead.
Poor managing by Frank Robinson contributed mightily to the Nats blowing last night’s three-run lead in extra innings. Capitol Punishment has a the breakdown of the breakdown. The new fire Frank Robinson blog certainly has some new material.

Slumping Soriano sits out – The Wash. Times
A mere day after Thomas Boswell wrote a “Alf is teh AWESOME!!!!” column (Oleanders and Morning Glories), Alfonso Soriano was benched.
Hopefully Brian Cashman read that e-mail column, because he is in the market for a new outfielder. Speculation has already begun that Soriano could be of interest to the Yankees, due to Hideki Matsui breaking his wrist last night (The Times).
Kasten to Meet With Bowden, Is Mum on Plans – The Post
President-select Stan Kasten is going to be meeting with the team on Friday. He is mum about his specific plans (he might as well be, since he does not yet have power), so it is a “wait and see” for us.
Differing Opinions on Hernandez – The Post
Pitching coach, Randy St. Claire says that Livan Hernandez merely needs confidence. At this point, St. Claire has earned the right to be believed, but it is hard. Hernandez looks like a beached whale out there.
