QUIET WINTER MEETINGS, UNIS TO BE UNVEILED WEDNESDAY

All Remains Quiet For the NationalsThe Post

The Nats did not make any moves at the winter meetings, which must have been very trying for trigger happy Jim Bowden. There was talk of Sammy Sosa being traded here (The Post) but that is not going to happen.

Expectations on rise for RobinsonThe Wash. Times

Of course expectations are on the rise for FRob. There were only 5,000 people in Montreal who cared about the Expos last year, plus Peter Angelo$ a few miles up I-95. Ol’ Frank cannot be caught sleeping in the dugout this season.

Notes: Team to unveil jerseysnationals.com

Wednesday is the day that we get to see the new uniforms which will be modeled by P Zach Day and OF Terrmel Sledge. This could be a very awkward occasion if the D.C. council blows it — still a very distinct possibility. Do you think it is odd that so close to the vote there is very little news about what is supposed to happen tomorrow?

ZEMAITIS & HALI TO NFL?

2 PSU juniors ponder NFL DraftPatriot-News

I would be surprised if either player is going to be told they are a #1 draft choice, so they will probably stay. DE Tamba Hali could leave early so that he could find the money (even if not 1st round money) to bring his mother to the U.S. from Liberia. It is hard to fault a guy for that sort of thing, but in the end, I think they both stay. Also, scouts want to know why Derek Wake is such an underachiever. Someone will probably pick him up and make him a project.
