Nats lose by only one

Arizona 4 WASHINGTON 3 (ESPN Boxscore)

It was a little bit of the same old, same old (The Post) for the Nats. They feel behind early behind poor starting pitching (The Wash. Times) and tried to come back. Unlike Wednesday, they couldn’t pull it off, losing by a run to the Diamondbacks.

Jason Bergmann threw 50 (!) pitches in the first inning, giving up three runs in the process. He gave up another in the 4th and was pulled after giving up another run. The bullpen then came in and held Arizona scoreless (The Wash. Times) while the Nats chipped away at the lead. It wasn’t enough though. Manager Manny Acta is keeping his cool though.

Livan Hernandez, who lost his exclimation points long ago, enjoys coming back to RFK (The Post). Last year, after he was traded to Arizona, he split two starts vs. Washington.

KidsPost is talking baseball.

Didn’t it look like the same team was playing itself yesterday? The D-backs new uniforms have just about the same colors as the Nationals. The two teams probably would have looked fine in HD, but Malevolent Angelo$ Sports Network doesn’t believe in that service. The network even stinks for Baltimore telecasts (The Sun). The new D-backs uniforms are a lot better than their old purple, black, copper, teal ones.

A look at two top prospects, Stephen King and Chris Marrero, from The Wash. Times.

The paid attendance of 16,017 was the lowest since September 30, 1971. It might have been the coldest game at RFK in the Nationals era too.

1B Dimitri Young is getting to wear 42 (nationals.com) to commerate Jackie Robinson. Other than being black and havin diabetis, da Meathook probably has nothing in common with Robinson. Couldn’t someone else have worn 42?
