How low can they go?

ATLANTA 8 Washington 3 (ESPN Boxscore)

The Nats lost again (The Post and The Wash. Times) last night. Are the details really important? No, so lets talk about the interesting things.

Manager Manny Acta is growing a mustache and goatee until the team wins. Barry Svrluga wondered aloud if Acta would resemble Methuselah when that happened. Following the game, he had a close door meeting with the team. Prior to the game, he met with Jim Bowden privately. Everybody is remaining calm for now. It is reasonable to assume that the leading the league in errors was one of the topics Acta addressed.

Hitting coach Mitchell Page says that Nats bats are not in a slump, they just ain’t hitting (The Post).

Thom Loverro of The Wash. Times wants to see Andruw Jones in a Washington uniform next year. Loverro argues that it is the kind of splash Stan Kasten needs to make as a sign of good faith to the fans. Signing Jones would also mean the Nats would probably give up 18 fewer home runs a year.

The Georgetown Voice writes about what the Nats need to do to make District residents like Brian Trivers fans.

Jim Bowden explains how he put the front office together in his weekly The Wash. Examiner dictation.
