Penn State tri-captains announced; Scirrotto sees felony charges dropped

This afternoon, Intercollegiate Athletics announced this year’s three Nittany Lions football captains and there are not any surprises.

  • Dan Connor, MLB — As the only the senior starter on defense he almost assumes the position by default. However, it was pretty clear last year that he had grown up and become a leader, putting the stupid prank calling incident of 2005 behind him. Also, middle linebacker is the position for a captain.
  • Terrell Golden, WR — Though this senior gets very little playing time, we’ve been hearing all summer what a leader Golden has become.
  • Anthony Morelli, QB — I can’t help but think that Morelli is captain more to emphasize that he needs to lead rather than he has led. Over the last ten years, I think every senior quarterback other than Rashard Casey has been captain.

Also, FightOnState.com is reporting that style=”font-weight:bold;”>Anthony Scirrotto will not face felony charges for the incident at Meridian Apartments.. A WMAJ-AM interview with Scirrotto’s attorney, Ron McLaughlin is cited.

Also, Penn State is ranked #17 in the AP poll (CBS Sportsline).
