For Peña, Redding, Nats, No Problems in Houston – The Post
Nats batter Astros’ hurler – The Wash. Times
Tim Redding held the Astros scorless over 7 innings, beating his former team for his third win of the season. Since getting called up from Columbus, where his ERA was 5.32, Redding has a 2.53 ERA. Jesus Colome pitched the final two innings to perserve the shutout.
Shockingly, there is no quote from Jim Bowden about the greatness of Wily Mo Peña yet. The newly acquired outfielder hit a home run for the second consecutive day, this time off of Jason Jennings. Dimitri Young also homered and Jennings was chased after four innings and six runs.
Peña’s arrivial has led Manny Acta to shift outfielders over the last two games (The Post). On Sunday, Austin Kearns played centerfield, while Ryan Church was there last night. The Nats want to see what Peña can do, since they already know what all the other outfielders are all about.
Acta says that he owes his career to the Astros (The Wash. Times) because they got him out of his “dinky little town” and allowed him to play and coach minor league baseball.
Check out this lead from the Houston Chronicle gamer:
It was not a good idea to make assumptions Monday night at Minute Maid Park, where the Astros got the figurative equivalent of popcorn thrown in their faces, which is what one fan suffered when he tried to propose marriage before tens of thousands of strangers.
Ouch! Why do men think it is a good idea to propose at sporting events?
