Redding, Nats Agree to 1-Year Deal – AP/WTOP
RHP Tim Redding signed a $1 million, 1 year contract with the Nationals, avoiding arbitration. There are several incentives as well:
The contract includes $25,000 bonuses if Redding reaches 25 starts, 27 starts, 29 starts or 31 starts, and if he reaches 180 innings, 190 innings, 200 innings or 210 innings.
Redding has never made more than 17 starts or pitched more than 176 innings.
In the nationals.com story on Redding’s deal it is also notes that Jon Rauch is not close to reaching a deal to avoid arbitration. 2B/SS Felipe Lopez is also facing arbitration. My advice to FLop — take whatever they offer you, arbitration could be ugly.
