Odalis Perez gave up two runs in the first and that was all the Mets needed. New York didn’t score again until the seventh when they added another two runs, a feat repeated in the eighth. The Nats didn’t score period, wasting a decent start from Perez. The visitors had their opportunities, including a bases-loaded one out situation the third that neither Ryan Zimmerman nor Nick Johnson could capitalize on.
Everybody in uniform last night wore #42 in honor of Jackie Robinson, who broke the color barrier in baseball 62 years ago yesterday. The Mets are dedicated the Jackie Robinson Rotunda at Citi Field, currently under construction, yesterday.

The food critic for The Sun grudgingly admits that Washington has better ballpark food than Baltimore. It turns out that Nats food is also hotter; Kasper takes the temperature of all the food he eats. The beer and crabcakes aren’t as good though.

A mostly positive article on the transformation of the area around the ballpark. The most interesting aspect of the article is that the obstructive building at 20 M Street is vacant. Mr. Lerner, tear down this building! I’ll overlook payroll for two years if you get rid of it and restore the Capitol view.
