Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) says that the District “does not need it and at this stage should drop it.” The “it” is the request for $20 million from MLB for the ballpark. Jim Graham (D, Ward 1) disagrees. More of the same from the D.C. council.

Fisher blames the council for the lease problems. T(h)om Loverro of The Wash. Times agrees with Fisher and actually makes some decent points for a change until he starts saying Maryland should chip in. It’s a little late to be suggesting a regional stadium authority now, isn’t it?
National Disgrace Bud Selig is not helping matters though, he is sending a letter to the mayor (AP/WJLA) about their concern for the lack of progress on the lease.
