WASHINGTON, D.C. — So, what do the newlyweds do four days after their wedding and brief honeymoon (real one is coming in December)? Do they rest after the biggest event of their lives? Do they unpack or open gifts? No, they go to a Nats game, courtesy of my co-worker John, thanks John! He insisted I bring home a win. Mission accomplished.
The Nats were opprutunistic, getting an early run off by playing small ball. The Mets struck me an unagressive in the field, which may or may not have cost them a run or two throughout the game.
Eighty-three games into the season, Esteban Loaiza got to .500. He pitched well, ringing up eight Ks and leaving the game in the ninth without giving up a run. However, he was charged for the man walked to start the ninth after closer Chad Cordero (reverting to form) allowed the runner to score. Another runner got home due in part to Jose Guillen’s throwing error, which put a man on second and third. However, Cordero got the next two batters out to ensure the win.
Also noteworthy, Erica and I got a later train than we normally do after a game. In the end, that was okay because we ran into my old friend Natalie on the Yellow Line. Hi Natalie!
