NATS GET WIN; COME HOME AFTER 7 – 6 ROAD TRIP
At End of Long Trip, Nats Don’t Stumble – The Post
Erica: Are you going to call Fritz?
William: In a minute, I want to call him during the commerical. It’s a full count with two outs in the first, it shouldn’t be long…
The Nats avenged two previous (but distinctly different) one-run defeats to the Amazins with a 7 – 4 win. They jumped out to a 6 – 0 lead, getting seven consecutive two-out hits off Mr. Anna Benson in the first. He was out after 2/3 of an inning. The rest of the way, they were a little flat, letting the Mets get back in it with a three-run homer to rookie PH Mike Jacobs. It will likely be all downhill from here for him, because that was his first ever major leage at-bat.
Esteban Loaiza got the win to raise his record to 8 – 9. The Nats come home and Tuesday aganist the Reds, a crummy team who swept Washington earlier in the season.
While it seemed like the Nats should have won more, I have to say that I am satisfied with a 7 – 6 road trip.
