An interesting weekend for the Nats

What a weekend for our Nationals! So many things happened with the biggest being MLB’s acceptance of the ballpark lease (The Post), with conditions of course, but surprisingly reasonable ones it would appear. The council needs to vote tomorrow to support the lease as is, and that is expected to happen; but as we all know, D.C. can always find a way to screw it up, just ask Marc Fisher. If they do botch it, hello arbitration.

A big picutre of Jack Evans is on The Wash. Times’ article. Balmer’s spin is covered by The Sun.

The MLB news” on the lease. The press release is not on nationals.com yet though.

Other news:

  • Finally, a Grapefruit League win (The Post), over Baltimore, no less. More from The Wash. Times
  • ¡Dutch! hit two homers
  • Jose Guillen to miss three months only a few weeks with a wrist injury – The Post
  • Tickets went on sale, see you Opening Day
  • The new TV announcers were named (The Post), say hello to Bob Carpenter and Tom “Wimpy” Paciorek. The former comes from St. Louis, while the latter comes from Atlanta, but spent time with the White Sox. The Wash. Times has more, but both papers do not discuss a very noteworthy event in Paciorek’s life.
  • Seen and heard at spring trainingThe Wash. Times
  • It’s mailbag day, mailbag day, we hope you’ll enjoy mailbag day (The. Wash Times).

In the end, the Nats appear to be safe…but for how long?
