Penn State sports roundup: grapplers, Icers, cagers

I’m not a fan of wrestling, but I can say that I am now a Rohan Murphy fan. The Penn State wrestler competes despite having no legs.

Penn State Icers fall in frustrating national title gameCDT
D’oh! The Icers lost 3 – 1 to Rhode Island in the ACHA champsionship game. This makes it three years since they last one a national championship, which is wholly unacceptable. Actually, let’s not get too down on them, they have been first or second every season since 1998 with five titles during the run. Someone donate $5 million for a hockey arena so these guys can go varsity! With them going D-I there would be the six teams needed to create the Big11Ten hockey conference. That would be SWEET.

Eighth seed Penn State has drawn ninth seed Northwestern in the Big11Ten men’s basketball tourney. It is telecast at noon on Thursday on ESPN2. PSU (14-13) leads the season series 2-0. It is a good thing that they are playing each other too, because I think ESPN2 neglected their annual PSU vs. NU telecast in the regular season.
