Bob Carpenter just told me that Mike Bacsik, tonight’s “emergency” starter, is 29 years old. At that age, he might not ever be a major league regular, but I wish him well in his Natioals debut. I’ll say this for him, he appreciates uniform tradition — he is wearing stirrups, somebody call Paul Lukas!
