P Jason Simontacchi got into trouble in the fourth and fifth innings, giving up one and then two runs. The Nats came within one with Dimitri Young‘s 2 run shot, his fourth, but Saul Rivera gave up another two runs out of the bullpen. Ryan Zimmerman hit his fourth homer of the year to bring the Nats within one again.
In the ninth with a runner on and two outs Cristian Guzman walked, putting the winning run at first base. Zimmerman couldn’t get either runner home though, lining hard to left to end the game.
