The Nationals 2009 schedule is now up. The season opener is in Florida, the last at historic Joe Robbie/ProPlayer/Dolphin Stadium. Unfortunately, MLB has not put the true opening day in the nation’s capital again. The home opener will be April 13 against Philadelphia, time TBD. It better be during the day. Idiots. At least they didn’t screw up July 4 (home game vs. Atlanta) again.
Memorial Day will sadly be on the road against the Mets. The Orioles series in D.C. is the weekend before Memorial Day. The Red Sox series is June 23-25, so lots of people wearing caps bought after Nov. 2004 will be in attendance that week. The Nats trip to new Yankee Stadium will be June 16-18. The Nats play in Baltimore the last weekend in June, but that is irrelevant because no good Nats fan/Washingtonian will give Peter Angelo$ another handout.
The big trip out west is May 6-13 with stops at L.A., Arizona and San Francisco, respectively. The San Diego series is at the end of August.
Surprisingly, no one has a wedding scheduled for the series in Pittsburgh July 31-August 3. That has happened three out of the four seasons we’ve had the Nats; this year was the only time one wasn’t scheduled, but that was around when my son was born. I want to go out there and see PNC Park one of these years. I would not mind a return trip to Philly either.
