Small things add up in Nationals’ lossThe Wash. Times
Jordan Zimmermann didn’t have it last night, lasting only four innings. He gave up four runs. The defense was worse though, three errors. Out of the bullpen, Julián Tavárez was dreadful as well, walking two batters and getting charged with losing run. Eight men were left on base. Yet, because of Ryan Zimmerman and Josh Willingham homers, the Nats only lost by a run.

Last night’s game was the halfway point of the season. Washington has a 24-57 record — not historically bad, but pretty awful in general.
