Johnson, Nationals Pound the PhilliesThe Post
This isn’t over! – The Ombudsman, minutes after the Nats defeated Philly to take the series.

1B Nick Johnson hit two homers and recent call-up Billy Traber pitched decently to get first MLB win since 2003. He also got a hit.

The win was Frank Robinson’s 1,000th as a major league manager, so congratulations are in order. It also means I take a 2-1 lead in the Ben’s/Jim’s wager.

Lerner Adds Two Investors to GroupThe Post
Apparently, the Lerner bid has added two prominent African-American investors, but in typical Lerner fashion, there was no public announcement.

Rodney E. Slater, 51, a secretary of transportation under President Clinton and a partner with the law firm of Patton Boggs LLP, and B. Doyle Mitchell Jr., 44, president and chief executive of Industrial Bank NA, have joined several other minority partners in the Lerner effort, according to the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Will this be enough for MLB to sell the team to the Lerners? We shall see — in 2010.
