As much as I dislike the Pittsburgh Penguins, I don’t want them to die. I respect the Capitals rivalry with the Pengyunz in ways that I never could with teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning or Carolina Hurricanes. I also have friends who root for the flightless birds.
Yesterday, the team’s preferred funding mechanism for a new arena failed. The Penguins had teamed up with Isle of Carpi casinos to build an arena pending being awarded the Pittsburgh slot machine license. That bid lost and the team’s future in Pittsburgh is now in jeopardy. I hope they can work something out
