NEWSPAPER SITE UPGRADES
Two of the newspaper Web sites that I regularly read have upgraded their home pages. State College’s CDT made some minor cosmetic changes on the home page, including witching to a sans serif font, which makes it easier to read. Generally, the rule is that sans serif looks better on a screen while serif looks better on a page. Apparently, more changes are coming soon.
Pittsburgh’s major paper, The Post-Gazette also redesigned their home page. This one was more extensive than just changing the font. It is organized in two primary columns with graphical headers for section names. They even have an interactive explanation of what they did. So far, this redesign has only occured on the home page though, so the rest of the site still looks pretty dated.
