At the Restart, Nationals Stall Out – The Post
This would have been a nice one to have, but alas even Jim Bowden’s latest move was not enough aganist the Brew Crew. I am shocked — shocked! Knowing Bowden, he will try to redeem himself by getting this guy.
The Nats wasted another strong outing by John Patterson, who had 9 strikeouts in six innings. Why does he get pulled so early?
All over greater Washington, from Manassas to Annapolis, from Olney to Woodbridge and even in the District itself, peole are asking if Patterson is the second half’s Esteban Loaiza?
When newbie Preston Wilson homered, a co-worker was all excited and telling me it was a good deal. I responded with two words: Vinny Castilla.
Ever since July 4, when ESPN and others decided the Nats were America’s team the Nats have played dead. Four months ago, I would not have minded the idea of lovable losers, but I have already been spoiled and these guys are not quite lovable enough on their own. Hopefully, they can right the ship before Bowden drills holes in the bottom and says something like, “they’re speed holes, they make the boat go faster.”

With Arrival, Wilson Brings Changes for Some Nats – The Post
Those changes of course are less playing time for May’s ROOKIE OF THE MONTH Ryan Church and Marlon Byrd. Not having Byrd in the lineup does not upset me too terribly, but sitting Church is just awful, he needs and has earned playing time. I have one question for Bowden — why do you want to kill our beautiful dream?
Okay, that’s enough! I need a break from Bowden’s jump suits and dubious trades, not too mention some technology problems that delayed this update. I’m outta here for a couple of days, off to the Shore on an instant vacation. Perhaps Deputy Editor Hamme will be able to get the updates in tomorrow, but if not, I will have something Saturday night or Sunday. Hopefully, they will recover while I am away.
