‘Uninspired’ Nationals Can’t Overcome Marlins – The Post
I was offered a pair of tickets in the 100 level on the 3rd base side last night, but since I am going tonight, I turned them down. It is a good thing given the Nats poor play:
If a 4-2 home loss to Florida — in which right-hander Tony Armas Jr. continued falling behind hitters, three Nationals committed errors and the batting order squandered a one-out, bases-loaded opportunity — is any indication of the next seven weeks, Manager Frank Robinson might become even less charitable than he was after last night’s game.
“The ballgame was not a good ballgame. Period,” he said. “A very uninspired, lack-of-energy type game. No execution. Period.”
Armas gave up four runs in six innings. The bullpen combination of Chris Schroder, Jon Rauch, and Ryan Wagner held Florida hitless and scoreless for the rest of the game. Solo home runs by Nick Johnson and Ryan Church provided the Nats with their two runs. Final score: Florida 4 Washington 2.

Reds Mulling Action On Majewski’s Injury – The Post
Reds GM Wayne Krivsky continues to make himself look stupid for not knowing that Gary Majewski was damaged goods. Perhaps he thinks that making a big deal out of this is a way to save face for such a lopsided trade, but I think Krivsky is just digging himself deeper. Cut your loses Wayne before you replace Jim Bowden as the laughingstock of the National League!
THIS JUST IN: I have acquired a conversation between Krivsky and his deputy about the Majewski trade.
Reds assistant GM: That Bowden fella gritted you good, boss.
Krivsky: Well, there’s no shame in being beaten by the best.
Reds assistant GM: But, he didn’t seem..
Krivsky: (angrily) We were beaten by the best, boy.

Jim Bowden: Trust me, the Nats’ future is bright – The Wash. Examiner
The phrase “talk is cheap” jumps out at me from the second paragraph of this column. So does “Trust me” in the headline.
Nationals to be on TV? Ho-hum, residents say – The (Salisbury) Daily Times
This oddly familiar looking newspaper Web site indicates that Delmarva is not exactly jumping for joy that the Nats will soon be available on TV there.
ROB KASPER – Kosher hot dogs join the lineup at RFK Stadium – The Sun
Upon learning that RFK now has a “Kosher Sports” stand, a Balmer columnist journeys down the B/W Parkway for lunch. He says the Abeles and Heymann all-beef dog is not as good as one at Oriole Park. Kasper also tells the story of Jonathan Katz (not this one), the man behind Kosher Sports.
Don’t forget, meet up at tonight’s Nats game. Meet between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Armory steps. More details via e-mail — wfyurasko [at] yurasko dot net (or through the E-mail link below).
