Nats swept by worst-named NL team

SUNDAY: Florida 3 WASHINGTON 1 (ESPN Boxscore)

SATRUDAY: Florida 3 WASHINGTON 1 (ESPN Boxscore)

I was up in Pennsylvania for my first white Easter, so I did not really get a chance to see even hear about what the Nats did over the weekend. Perhaps that is for the best or possibly because they did just about nothing.

John Patterson struggled and the Nats lost 7-1 on Saturday, after losing 7-1 on Friday. The Nats current “ace” Shawn Hill (The Post) lost to the Nats original ace (The Wash. Times), Livan Hernandez yesterday, 3-1. It took the Nats six innings to pick up their first hit. The seven game homestand to open the season is over with only one win to show for it. The boys in the curly W’s have yet to hold a lead this season, but they are not worried (The Wash. Times). I think they should be, don’t you?

Manny Acta’s tinkering with the lineup (The Wash. Times) did little to help the Nats, as they scored all of three runs during the holy weekend. The Nats bats are as cold as the weather (The Post) right now.

While I was up in Pennsylvania I watched some of the Phillies-Marlins game yesterday. It was either that or Pirates-Reds. I went with the Phightins because I have also enjoyed Harry Kalas and I figured I had a better chance of getting a Nats score. No such luck. The broadcast had exactly zero out-of-town scores during the five or so innings I watched. I don’t ever remember watching a baseball game that didn’t have other scores. By the way, Philly is only marginally better than the Nats, so I may have a chance in the 2007 Cheesesteak-Half Smoke challenge.
