I didn’t go to the Blue White Game, but 71,000 people (smashing the previous record of 62,000) did and some of them blogged about it. My Google Reader widget has a number of links (for today at least) recapping the game.

Some things I do know:

  • White beat Blue, 30-6. I don’t ever remember White winning.
  • Lots of fans wore maroon and orange. The Blue Band played “Amazing Grace” and there were chants of “Let’s Go Hokies.” There was also a “VT” in the student section.
  • There were no major injuries.

You can find every possible angle on the Blue White Game from these sources:

Lastly, a Collegian Magazine article wonders if the 2007 team can win it all like the 1982 and 1986 teams. It overlooks the best reason for optimism though — the quarterback wears #14. All but three of the last four quarterbacks (Chuck Fusina, Todd Blackledge and John Shafer) to wear that number played for national championship. Blackledge and Shafer won it, while Fusina came up short. Only Wally Richardson didn’t play for a title, but he did go 21-5 as a starter and win two Bowl games, including the 1997 Fiesta Bowl.
