Nats comeback falls short

Pittsburgh 7 WASHINGTON 6 (ESPN Boxscore)

After three quality starts, Mike Bascik pitched poorly last night. He gave up six runs over 4 2/3. Stomach pain may have contributed to his off night.

Despite Bacsik’s poor outing, the Nationals gave themselves opportunities to tie the game. Tony Batista got caught trying to score from first after he missed third base coach Tim Tolman‘s sign.

Batista’s gamble is costlyThe Wash. Times

P Ryan Wagner is done (The Post) for the season (The Wash. Times) having had his torn labrum repaired yesterday by Dr. James Andrews. With this in mind, T(h)om Loverro hopes Jim Bowden doesn’t draft a pitcher (The Wash. Times) in the first round. He’s got a point, because the odds are that pitcher would never do anything of note in a Washington uniform. He would probably get picked up by whatever team hires Bowden to their GM after he leaves D.C.

Levale Speigner is staying in the rotation, but getting an extra couple of days of rest. It just doesn’t seem fair for anyone involved.

The Nats like watching “Deadliest Catch,” a Discovery Channel show about Alaskan king crab fishing, in the clubhouse.

I’ll be at the game tonight, but I don’t recall where the seats are located. We might stay in them too long anyway. Fritz where are our seats again?

Of course, we might move down ๐Ÿ™‚
