News ‘not good’ for Pena – Florida Today
With Wily Mo Peña on the shelf due to a severely strained oblique muscle, Elijah Dukes was/is in position to take over as leftfielder. By the third inning of yesterday’s afternoon split-squad game with Cleveland, Dukes had pulled up lame with a hamstring pull. Dukes thinks it will be a couple of days — we’ll see. Ryan Langerhans finds himself back in the mix now. So is Alex Escobar, but his injury history suggests that a bizarre gardening accident (probably best left unsolved) or spontaneous combustion is imminent.
Old Windup Is a Big Kick For New Chico – The Post
hico finds kick in his step – The Wash. Times
Video of a high school aged Matt Chico pitching (possibly this) surfaced online recently and pitching coach Randy St. Claire noticed the Chico had a much higher leg kick. St. Claire worked with Chico on going back to that style and the pitcher says he is much more comfortable with it. Using these “new” mechanics, Chico had his best outing of the spring: 5 IP 3H 1R. There is still some room for refinement, but it could be a promising development. Chico had shortened his delivery when he was with the Diamondbacks organization.

Nationals, D.C. Officials Tangle Over Street Vending, Controversial Sign – The Post
The D.C. Council wants to put up an electric sign on the ballpark that tallies the amount of federal taxes District residents have paid, despite not having federal representation. The Nats think it is too controversial. I say, tough, D.C. built the park, if the Lerner’s don’t like it they can buy it and put up whatever they want.
The other issue is food carts near the ballpark. The council is in favor of them, the Nats are not. Again, tough.
There will be a lottery for remaining Opening Night tickets.
